Inside a Tech Billionaire’s Secret Airship PlanSome 86 years after the Hindenburg disaster, LTA Research wants to bring back airships, this time with funding from Sergey Brin. The billionaire and co-founder of Google has quietly helped modernize a long-forgotten form of flight—one that could be used to transport cargo or assist during humanitarian relief missions. Ashlee Vance got an exclusive look at their prototype.#Airship #LTA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrAc-yORdAo

@stux Sometimes blimps fly over my house. There's something very peaceful about how they move! Akron, my city, birthing place of many blimps!

@stux Billionaires are pre-programmed to endorse any technology that lets them look down on everyone else.

@stux I hope that we could use airships to move food into the North in Canada. Currently, healthy food is really expensive in the North! That's due to the fact that getting across the tundra on land is difficult. The soggy melting tundra isn't ideal for trains or roads. Airships could take advantage of the sinuous, lengthening, and increasingly North-South jet stream (under climate change conditions) to carry food cargo into the North, and to return to agricultural land in the South of Canada.

@stux they had same idea a few years back in Germany. They also built a gigantic construction hall. The idea failed and so they turned it into an indoor swimming park. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_Islands

@stux Always a cool concept, but the need for fair weather really limits their uses.
