We thought about adding specific Wayland support to a major game engine about a decade ago. They have a lot of problems with that project. Still no usable HDR support last I checked. If they can’t be compatible they should at least give compelling features.

@Moon It just doesn't recognize my tablet at all. Except as a storage device, because apparently there's a manual stored on it. It works fine on my other PC which still uses X11 but if my options are using my worse hardware for drawing or installing a second DE on my new computer, fuck Wayland.

@wilmhit @Moon It works perfectly fine on X11 for me. Apparently, even if get it to work, you can't change any of the default settings. Which sucks donkey balls because I'm left-handed.

They just had another big meet up for X HDR support to work on over next 1-2years (yes, again) just a month ago. Meanwhile people have to use direct API to get it working… Meaning it has to be completely by passed.

there are plenty of problems worth solving (like any X11 client being able to intercept input from any other) but wayland seems like a step backwards in so many other ways (not to mention just plain not being ready…)

They don’t have a global space concept iirc to handle things like screenshots and streaming last I ran it. The opposite problem of example you gave.I think the problem is the entire project needs to be scraped as they didn’t have a good purpose for the project other than ‘mildy more secure’ when people generally don’t run more untrustworthy apps than the web browser they use for online banking. :joker2: They should go back to the drawing board and focus on features like HDR and gaming, so people will care about it. People being corps that will fund it to sell hw and users wanting to switch to it. :shrugz:

I genuinely don’t care about whole desktop streaming tbh, I consider the security well worth it.Honestly people usually mention vsync and screen tearing so I figured that was their “headline” feature, but yeah, not compelling enough.

With remote work I wish it was just juniors… but also with this type of project just doing QA is hard for this reason. You have to do a lot of training for corp eng… they don’t know a lot about “computers” or care to know as they’re just there for a paycheck they can get with their PhD.

@besserwisser@shitposter.club xsetwacom is only for X11, i normally use KDE Plasma, and use the wacom-kcm or opentabletdriver tools for Huion i use their first party driver from the website that comes with a full featured gui configuration tool. I know with sway, swaymsg -t get_inputs can list the inputs, and set the configurations via sway’s config file
