I should set up my own temp host... sometimes it's just the easiest way to get files from one place to another

@lamp I remember having a similar issue, I think I got around it by grabbing a screenshot app which had a timer in it, set the delay to 3 seconds or something and opened the dialog box.

@lamp That isn’t strictly a Linux issue. Even in windows using the screen capture tool you would need to trigger it via a timer delay rather than an action. The menu is responding to focus events or click events. Look at something like flame shot or a capture tool that triggers via an auto delay so you can open the menu and wait for the screen capture to trigger

@lamp Yeah sometimes you can switch this stuff off in the router settings. With my ISP I could remove the "mistyped URL redirects to advertisement" feature, which is a horrible data leak

@RichardNairn I shouldn't have to use a delay. The print screen press shouldn't be going anywhere but the screenshot tool bound to it. On Windows, #ShareX works flawlessly.

@lamp I’m just saying if you are pressing a key , the drop-down loses focus and closes. So the way to get around it would be to trigger by delay. I have the same issue with the normal windows clipping tool. I haven’t heard of sharex so I don’t know how it is doing it.

@sjb yeah #tmobile has that issue, their #DNS will never return NXDOMAIN but returns IPs of their servers instead, which are dead now so if you mis-type a domain it seems like it exists but not responding; from what ive seen on the web it used to serve sponsored search results many years ago.#cox did it too, probably still doing it. You always have to use your own hardware if you don't wanna be cucked
