@yockeypuck I hate stalin but i have to go with him here, for what its worth he industrialized russia and his form of communism wasn't as gay as other forms of communism, it had a strain of nationalism running through it, the guy is still a piece of shit, but i'm only picking stalin here because honestly while roosevelt didn't get the chance to i bet he absolutely would have killed as many people as stalin , also i'm not going to pick churchill in any poll i don't even think i need to explain why

@NailBomb @Floydian_Psychology @didymus @yockeypuck Daily reminder the "Stalin/the red army improved as the war went on" is a meme spouted by Russian and Soviet propagandists and they were taking as many losses per month in 1945 as in 1941 even as their manpower, artillery, tank, etc. ratios only increased as the years went on relative to their opponent. They were incompetent, and that's a good thing for humanity otherwise more of Europe could have come under their control and have had their population and industry shipped off to Siberia to prop up the abomination that was the USSR.

Really the only "improvement" was being able to transport more disposible Mongols west to Eastern Front (thanks to 800,000 US supplied troop carriers) and the accumulation of German weapons/machinery as the Germans were forced to retreat.Any perceived improvement is purely due to receiving Anglo and inadvertant German technology - typical of Asia.

Yes, they took heavy causalities up until 1945. But they also inflicted several times more causalities on the enemy. Comparing Barbarossa to Operation Bagration is night and day. By 1944, the Red Army was taking huge amounts of territory while suffering about 5 KIA for 3 enemy KIA/captured. By 1945, the Red Army was the dominant army on the face of the earth. If the American-British coalition attempted to invade East Germany, they would have most likely been pushed back to the French border and would have only been saved from being pushed out of the continent by the massive American and British air force.

@yockeypuck @nugger @didymus @Floydian_Psychology Churchill has the redeeming quality of proposing ideas that would prolong the war by being incredibly ineffective to the degree of not hurting the Germans at all- like trying to invade via the Balkans instead of D-Day or Italy which unfortunately were vetoed by the Americans. A shame, for example even a tiny German garrison was able to completely turn devastate British assaults in 1944 aimed at Greece.
