       A collector is someone who collects things of a particular type as a hobby. A hoarder, on the other hand, accumulates too many things and has difficulty parting with any possessions. Collectors have a clear understanding of the values of the items they collect. They are organized and proud of their collections. People with hoarding disorder have persistent difficulty getting rid of or parting with possessions due to a perceived need to save the items.
