Setting up a #Lemmy instance. Still trying to figure out how it works, federation seems not to work for now.But for those who would like a #Reddit replacement in the Fediverse, you can give it a try:https://lemmy.world

@ruud@mastodon.world I've been looking into hosting a #Lemmy instance too, will you document your adventures and any hurdles you found and how you solved them?

@ruud@mastodon.world I appreciate the offer, but I think it's healthier to have many small instances over several large ones, so I would prefer to just host an additional instance to join the total pool!

@ruud So does a Lemmy instance map to Reddit at large or does it map to an individual subreddit? When I heard the news about Reddit my first thought was if there was a fediverse equivalent, but I think replacing the vast number of semi-self-managed communities on Reddit would be an even bigger challenge than trying to replace Twitter with Mastodon…

@ccunning I must admit I'm not a big Reddit user, but a Lemmy instance has Communities in which you can post and which you can subscribe to.I'd say, give it a try?

@ruud Are the Communities local to the instance? It seems that way but I can’t tell if that’s just because the lemmy.world instance isn’t federated?

@tyil @ruud Lemmy has an [ansible setup](https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ansible) which works quite automagically and I recommend it if you don't want to spend too much time setting up stuff.

@ruud Does the application have to be accepted before an email verification is sent out? Went to make an account and never received an email verification.

@ruud username I created was jonmardyla. If I attempt to login there is no choice to resend a verification email. So I’m just stuck right now.
