@Radical_EgoCom do you not like people wanting to distinguish between thinking someone has a bad idea, and thinking they have a nice but unachievable one?Or is it you suspect they don't think it's achievable because most people don't fully understand the anachist position.

@duckwhistle What I don't like is people assuming that anarchism is unrealistic and utopian because of the lies about anarchism that have been perpetuated through the mainstream media. What I would like is for people who aren't convinced of anarchism but are interested about it to actually research the ideology or talk to an actual anarchist instead of believing the stereotypical strawman anarchist caricatures in movies and TV is reality.

@Radical_EgoCom @duckwhistle I've found most people are anarchist to a large extent they just don't have a name for those opinions.

@SocialistStan @Radical_EgoCom I've found that most people talk like anarchists when asked about generalities but tend towards sounding authoritarian if you start the discussion talking about specifics, especially conservatives and communists. Not because they are more likely to prefer that way, it's just their ideal is more dependant on what others are doing around them.

@duckwhistle @SocialistStan @Radical_EgoCom Some of the questions I have for anarchists:1) Do you believe there should be no government (as per the dictionary definition)?2) If yes do you believe those who can't work can manage to live entirely off charity? If so how? If not who would provide for their needs?3)Same as 2 but for those who are between jobs4) How do you prevent low socioeconomic groups becoming reliant on their children working to make ends meet?

@duckwhistle @SocialistStan @Radical_EgoCom 5) How do you propose to provide healthcare for those who can't afford it with no government to pay for it?6) How do you propose ensuring companies etc, those who won't do the right thing unless forced, do the right thing?

In anarchist society, providing for people's needs and ensuring access to healthcare would be the collective responsibility of the community, communities organized in a decentralized and autonomous manner without external authority. Healthcare, for example, would be provided through decentralized and community led health organizations, consisting of doctors, healthcare professionals, and community members. These organizations would prioritize preventative and holistic care over profit driven treatment, and decisions would be made collaboratively with the community they serve. As for companies and corporations, they would not exist in their current form in an anarchist society, as they are often driven by profit motives at the expense of workers and the environment. Instead, production and services would be organized and managed in a cooperative, democratic, and decentralized manner, where workers would have control over the means of production and play an active role in decision making, and would be accountable to the communities they serve, rather than to shareholders. Companies would also be prevented from doing horrible things through the use of community led and grassroot organizing efforts, including boycotts, strikes, and other forms of direct action aimed at holding companies accountable for their actions and promoting ethical and sustainable practices.

@Radical_EgoCom @AutisticMumTo3 @duckwhistle @SocialistStan No, it won't. Centuries of human history suggest anarchy is followed not by all people holding hands and supporting one another in a peaceful society but by something more akin to The Purge.

I, nor any anarchist, believes that everything is going to be peaceful after the government has been abolished. Some degree of social disorder and turmoil will occur during the transition to an Anarchist society. Therefore, Anarchist advocate for the use of direct action and community lead social organization to promote positive social change and lessen the impact of such a transition. To prevent society from devolving into absolute chaos, an Anarchist society would need to prioritize collective responsibility, compassion, collaboration, and influence individuals to actively participate in building and maintaining their communities and finding solutions to common problems. One of the benefits of an anarchist society is that individuals feel more connected to their communities and are more involved in the decision-making process, which leads to more creativity, more innovation, and more cooperation between individuals, helping prevent societal breakdowns.

@Radical_EgoCom @jawarajabbi @AutisticMumTo3 @duckwhistle @SocialistStan I came up with the term "cohesivism" as a positive focus on this instead of a negative focus on "lack of leadership" (you cannot fight against something and expect a positive result), and this can be implemented right now by everyone.

@jawarajabbi @lapingvino @Radical_EgoCom @AutisticMumTo3 @duckwhistle @SocialistStan Humans lack everything it takes to live in that kind of society. Take away government and they’ll be at each others throats immediately. Shortly after we’d have a dictator, and the cycle starts over. You want anarchy? Start changing how people think.Good luck with that.

@zuzuruz @jawarajabbi @Radical_EgoCom @AutisticMumTo3 @duckwhistle @SocialistStan that's why I'm a Bahá'í and I go about this religiously. And I don't believe at all that people have such a vile nature. In fact, capitalism is trying hard to bring this supposed nature to the surface and it barely ever succeeds. Even in the most dire situations of the barren United States wastelands of lack of basic human decency, people care deeply about each other and fight for each other.

@lapingvino @jawarajabbi @Radical_EgoCom @AutisticMumTo3 @duckwhistle @SocialistStan Lol. Capitalism brings out the worst in people. For thousands of years and every type of government, and all kinds of religion, people still want to exterminate each other. Yes, it is that bad. Humans corrupt everything they touch.

@zuzuruz @jawarajabbi @Radical_EgoCom @AutisticMumTo3 @duckwhistle @SocialistStan Capitalism is a recent invention with a destructive narrative. It's in no way the natural state of humanity. Check also e.g. Rutger Bregman's book "humankind" for a journalist's deep dive into this.

@lapingvino @jawarajabbi @Radical_EgoCom @AutisticMumTo3 @SocialistStan Any concept in social behavior that comes from humans will never work. Anything written to change human nature by words alone at this point in time is a wasted effort. Even people that WANT that kind of society will fail. Humans are naturally selfish, violent, stubborn, and afraid. Might as well teach a fish to fly like a bird in the sky.

@zuzuruz With that kind of defeatist attitude, nothing will change. So why do you even care? Why do you argue about it? Why do you tell others to give up in fighting for what they believe in? Don't make assumptions that because someone is writing about anarchy on mastodon, that they're keyboard activists. You have no idea what any of us do offline to improve our communities and world and that this is merely a fraction of what we say and do.By the way, those are all rhetorical questions. I don't care about your answers. I'd rather stand in solidarity with people like @Radical_EgoCom and fight for a better world for all people. It starts with education. Will we get everything right? No. We're human. But can we make it better than it is now? Hell yes. And we will.
