       I couldn't tell you why exactly but I think of bears as my spirit animal. I don't get a chance to see them much anymore since moving...I miss those experiences.        @peggycollins At Zuni I was captivated by a standing bear fetish (small carved animal) Bears were not prominent in my pantheon, that was tigers. I later learned that when ‘our’ Big Dipper appears to hang by its handle or ‘tail’ as Ursa Major, to Native Americans it is standing up as the dipper part is the lower body and the 3 stars of ‘handle’ represent the upper body and head.I then realized why this had captivated me so.

       @peggycollins Out east many mi'kmaq (l'nu) believe they have a bear spirit living in them. I am less familiar with the peoples in the western pacific nations.
