       Once is a coincidence, twice is a conspiracy. These are from our backyard cam on two recent nights. There’s a light-colored cat (it’s not Jasper) and a raccoon. Seemingly together. The raccoon is scrounging for dropped seeds under the feeder while the #cat hangs out close by. Do #cats & raccoons have some ongoing arrangement we don’t know about? Is this like the coyote & the badger thing that was going around the internets a couple of years ago? So many questions.#BackyardWildlife #nightlife

       @crashglasshouses And vice-versa. But I don’t recognize this cat, and I do not see it alone in any of my video captures, only with the raccoon. Usually raccoons run away when any other animal approaches.

       @Trilobyter   Often, if a cat visits the patio smorgasbord at the same time as a raccoon, it’ll wait it’s turn, then they switch places. It’s pretty amazing.

       @schfinkes I took this photo a while back, looking out the patio doors at my sister’s house in San Diego. Their backyard drops steeply down into a canyon. They have for years put out food for the raccoons and as you can see, other canyon inhabitants come and join the feast. But still doesn’t explain what the cat was doing in our yard with that raccoon as there was no food of interest there for the cat. Unless it thinks the raccoon is a big mouse & it still trying to figure out how to eat it.
