What's your favorite text editor? (I realize it's highly subjective, just like distros, etc.)

@calculsoberic I'm currently trying out helix editor (https://helix-editor.com/), before I used neovim. I also occasionally use micro editor (usually for basic note-taking).And for coding, I use

@calculsoberic Micro! A spiritual follow-up to GNU Nano that works as an intuitive yet powerful alternative to Vi, Vim, Emacs and other CLI text editors. Micro is without a doubt my current favourite.I'm currently using VSCodium though as I've found it to be the simplest for the time being, especially when following the CS50-course. However, should I edit my dotfiles, create todos or make simple projects, Micro is always my go to

@calculsoberic Actually, I think it'll be a different experience due to Vim having such a steep and different learning curve. It's a cool project though, and I really recommend taking a look at it at some point. Probably not as powerful as Vim, but I really enjoy using ithttps://github.com/zyedidia/micro

@calculsoberic neovim I think is my favorite so far. Would like to learn to further extend it to match some of the functionality I get in phpStorm (use it at work) but for my personal stuff itโs still more than enough to meet my needs

@calculsoberic Emacs. I'm not really that much attached to it, I could always try other editors... except it has the (warning: highly subjective opinion follows) best git client ever, magit, and I have lots of muscle memory for to it. There's lots of git stuff I don't even know exactly how to do on the CLI, like rebasing, staging only some lines of a file, bisecting, that I can do almost without thinking on magit.

@wendel that's the thing about most of these, they are highly subjective! But I suppose if you become comfortable with the CLI, then going back to something else may seem pointless.

@calculsoberic depends on, mostly for simple texts I use geany, for little programs I use emacs. For bigger texts I use Lyx.

@jph they've started to seem weird to me too. I haven't mastered Vim yet, but I am getting the hang of it. :blobcatcode:
