@stux During my work in IT there was a saying to solve problems for customers. There are 24 hours in a day, and then you have the night. To motivate the team. šŸ˜

@stux I’m actually amazed at how ancient humans were able to accurately tell time and largely arrived at the current divisions of time we have today.

@stux Swatch invented a fix for this issue with time some time ago, called "Internet time" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swatch_Internet_Time

@kingu @stux un analogue clocks, we cannot sync the hours indicator with minutes indicator when using 24hours. It gets off. It is possible on 12.

@benfrog @stux I’m laughing on the inside. 😁I wrote this a long time ago about differences in various programs, based on when the Gregorian Calendar was adopted. https://benramsey.com/blog/2014/02/dates-are-hard/

@stuxIt goes all the way back to the mesopotamians who used 12 and 60 based numbers.

@stux I'm pretty sure 12 hour time comes from sundials, which, you know, only work for 12 hours at at time maximum... 24 hour time is a relatively new thing. AM/PM has been around a lot longer, but the US leads the world in holding on to long-dead things...https://www.britannica.com/topic/24-hour-clock

@stux 86400 seconds is hard to divvy up in round numbers.Maybe if we redefined the length of seconds? 100 seconds per minute, 100 minutes per hour, 10 hours per day?Would make a lot of math easier.

@stuxAnd while at it, we change the time by one hour twice a year, each nation changing different weeks.Oh, if some of us figure out the change is not a good idea, we'll just set the clock +1 hour and never set it back. (Always +1 hour of what the time should be.)And oh wait, some areas will just not do this +/- 1 hour thing at all. And an area or two will be off by 30 mins.(It could be worse folks, you could still be using old and inconvenient unit systems. Like us in the US and Liberia)
