Trying - and failing - to bash Unicode values into generic #Windows editors. The manual says, for example, to hold ALT and bash 0257 on the numeric pad to get ā. Nope.I tried bashing 0320 and got @ which suggests Windows is truncating to the first 256 chars. Any advice on how to make Unicode (rather than accent composition) work outside of Word?#Linux is a piece of cake, just uses CTRL SHIFT U hex.

@vik is the editor / file set to some encoding that's limiting it?

@enobacon I think it might be a wierdness where the character is truncated to UTF-8 if you're set to use a US keyboard. When I get access to a Windows box I'll try enabling the hex keypad entry in the registry, but it's a pain having to fiddle about to get what is supposed to be a standard. Hey, it's Microsoft.

@vik I gave up the struggle and just copy/paste from a web site that has charts of all the characters

@lesf I have to make this one work for people who lack the dexterity to use a mouse.
