@indigenous_commentator and then there is this. Even with ICWA, this never stopped. States still will steal native children to sell for out of state adoption where they think a targeted family or community is simply too poor, isolated, or weak to get legal support. But it did at least give us some legal tools to fight back where we could.

@indigenous_commentator While we have to deal with so many other deprivations and often had to provide basic social services, for some tribal governments, even to this day, fighting arbitrary child removal had been the number 1 issue and cost a tribal council might have to deal with.

Definitely not in a home where ppl would treat you fairly, or a place where they let you be a child, and not treat you as slave laborer, or send you off to a school where told you your culture and language goes against their beliefs, so therefore you cannot practice. But, this isn't about you, or your parents. This is about what could be the genocide of many that aren't white...

Denying this, I hope you’ll agree, is patently absurd.Whiteness itself is a construct that exists, and it exists solely as itself, which is to say that whiteness can and should never be disentangled from all that creates and maintains it as itself, namely systems of colonization & supremacy. Whiteness, as opposed to other kinds of stratification, is a unique social and historical position - whiteness isn’t the only oppressive force in the world, but it’s definitively, undeniably a core force. Thinking of white as a race is white supremacist, for this reason.There can be no room for conditional allies. People committed in their whole practice, even when their feelings are hurt, or sense of white identity is interrogated, is what is needed. There’s no doubt that the imperial will, or alignment with leviathan, or whatever you call it can be reproduced outside of whiteness - to deny this would also be nonsense.

English sense. What he was talking about was having both labor and entrepreneurship under State control.)
