@kravietz yes, of course the US left some equipment with the sole purpose that Taliban would attack Iran. As we all know, the US has been behind ALL wars and natural disasters through out history. 😉

@kravietz much simpler idea, that wasn't US equipment, that's already Afghan military's humvees and MRAPs, and the US would provide only air support. Afghan airforce sucks huge islamist dong... some two dozen Super Tucano, six Black Hawks and Cayoose police unarmored bubbles. No gunships. Maybe servicing them needs Ukraine level of own industry, like Mi-8 production we have. The same on tanks, all scrapped out there in the garbage

@aureliuspublius I learned about it from reading Russian and Ukrainian channels. I must admit that the attention paid by their political and military commentators to the events happening in Asia is much higher than anyone in Europe (can’t say about US). There’s a number of excellent podcasts such as Атлас мира (_Atlas mira, “world atlas”) that intentionally discussed events in such places that are “less discussed in the West” years before the war, which are kind of eye openers, explaining for example the political landscape in countries such as China or Arab countries.
