GNOME Web is actually a pretty comfy web browser. It's not another Chromium fork. It is actually more mature than you might think. It even supports Firefox Sync.Sadly, it doesn't support extensions yet... Logged into Discord on it and it works totally fine, except voice chat, but that is Discord's fault, they do dumb user-agent detection to determine if you can use voice chat.

@iro_miya I have been following the development pretty closely since Nick from The Linux Experiment tried it I don't think it's quite ready yet, but it seems like it will be soon and then I will probably use it at least for some time

@LivingCooki@0w0.is I think so too, it's very promising but right now, not a good daily driver.But I would use it on, say, a secondary device where I don't browse the web that often and dont need all the stuff on FirefoxLike it might be good on my Steam Deck for instance!

@iro_miya idk, my experience w/ webkit/blink is... no matter the browser, they slowalso you're supporting the de-facto monopoly. out of lack of better options, firefox ftw

@domi@donotsta.re it would be nice if webkit and blink weren't as ubiquitous, that's true... although to me Firefox is also pretty slow, idk if there's really a better engine out there...

@iro_miya oh sure, and things like that do happen a lot of ephy too unfortunately. But in this specific case it’s license issues with webrtc, and the gstreamer webrtc support is still wip and not enabled in stable releases

@iro_miya tbh i like gnome web, not a massive fan of webkit, but at least it isn't blink. i wonder how useable for a browser servo is nowadays ?
