#StarTrek: Strange New Worlds is trying to turn the Gorn into Xenomorphs but we all remember that time when a lizard threw a rock at Kirk.(also "AAAAAAAAAGH! GORN WEDDING!")#StrangeNewWorlds

@Polychrome By the time of Kirk's famous encounter, the Gorn had put MUCH more human DNA into their genome

@kcarr2015 @crAshBanzai technically yeah it's a "specie reboot" but it's done better than Discovery and the Gorn didn't have as much presence as the Klingons in the franchise so there's not much to annoy people with the retcon.I still think they should have just made a new specie tho.

@Polychrome @crAshBanzai Hey, don't get me wrong, the Gorn as "intelligent Xenomorphs" sounds like a really interesting idea.🤔#StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds #AllThoseWhoWander

@kcarr2015 @crAshBanzai I'm willing to compromise if they give them the disco ball eyes back.

@kcarr2015 @Polychrome @crAshBanzai Think that article has some very important thoughts about that new version of the Gorn 👇 https://www.womenatwarp.com/the-problem-with-portraying-the-gorn-as-evil/

@darkandandstormy @kcarr2015 @crAshBanzai “What I like about the Gorn – and this is maybe counterintuitive when it comes to Star Trek – but what I like about the Gorn is they’re not every other iteration of representation of the human other in alien skin. They’re evil.” --Akiva Goldsman, executive producer for much of the current TrekverseOof. The big executive producer for Star Trek doesn't get Star Trek.Tho I guess this tracks (eyes Rick Berman)

@Polychrome @darkandandstormy @crAshBanzai I can tell the writers like toying with ideas of an adversary with so irredeemably diametrically opposed to the Federation protagonists that the heroes cannot come to any understanding with then. That used to be the #Borg, but they did it with the Majalans in #LiftUsWhereSufferingCannotReach.

@kcarr2015 @darkandandstormy @crAshBanzai the Borg did it better tbh. Creating an 'absolute monster' is lazy when it comes to Star Trek where nothing ever is an absolute monster. And let's not forget that the initial introduction of the Gorn wasn't as monsters or anything evil - they were people who were defending themselves against what they thought was a hostile military incursion by an unknown aggressor.
