I mean it's not hard to talk about police reform; people tell me "Nina, I'm for police reform" and then I say "how many angels would you say can dance on your head, roughly speaking" and we've more or less conducted the relevant part of a conversation about police reform.I could point out that the historical origin of police are literally slavecatchers and forcing poor people into workhouses, but really who gives a fuck? "Wrong" will suffice.

Hint; the reason the Venn Diagram between "fascists" and "cops" often looks like a perfect circle, is because that is more or less the job we hire them to do. They are not hired to protect and serve, and if you don't think I'm right, google "qualified immunity" and then blow it out your ass.Abolition is the only answer because the machine is functioning as intended. In that scenario, you destroy the machine. This is simple stuff; it only gets complicated when you get scared and in your feels.

@AnarchoNinaWrites a court case a couple of years ago established that protecting citizens is not part of the police’s job and they can’t be held liable if somebody dies or gets hurt because of their inaction.

@F100 @AnarchoNinaWrites to be clear, the precedent was set back in 1980 with Warren v. District of Columbia, but there wasn't a Supreme Court precedent until Town of Castle Rock v Gonzales in 2005.If you don't already know the details of either of those cases, please please please do not look them up. I read Warren in college and I haven't had a good night's sleep in 20 years.
