@freemo , nice. How do you think the Judge compares to a .357 Python?

@JonKramer Honestly, no clue. I never show a .357 python that I recall. I am far from an expert on guns. I own these two guns and an AR-15 (sig, mil spec).I can say this, the Judge has a hell of a kickback. Hurts your hand after a few rounds. But its got some stopping power too it. I bought it because it takes bullets AND shotgun shells, which is a killer combo for self-defense at close range.

@freemo , to clarify, if you only had the option to own one.... Just looked up options for the Judge... and I like the Circuit Judge. Damn! I want to see some test firing... But that has to be good out to 200 yards or so.

@JonKramer yea it can hold up with some distance for sure. i can say the Judge is my #1 choice for at home self defense just cause of that shotgun shell. I will say this, its too bulky as an everyday carry though if you want to go with conceal carry.

@freemo , agreed. I was wondering if it hurt to fire... I am not a fan of concealed carry. I think many of those guys are looking for trouble, or at a minimum not avoiding places where trouble will be. I would open carry... my daily carry is an 1858 Remington New Army. I CAN hide it in my kilt... but just carry on my belt.

@freemo , that's a problem. It's kinda rare that a fox in the henhouse will give you time to find eye protection!

@JonKramer I got nothing against concealed carry but i just never felt the need before since I was never a target. But now i pissed off some bad people doing some good things and am a target so for me conceal carry is just the responsibke move.

@JonKramer for a fox in the henhouse id probably use a 9mm if you wanted to use a hand gun, but then again im not the person you shoukd ask ;)

@jlcrawf Of the two that i bought i also noticed im a bit less accurate with the judge, but thats because the sight needs adjusting.. once i compensated for the sight (aimed a bit to the right of the target) i was hitting it square on.. But yea as a heavier gun with a relatively short barrel i guess its less accurate.. I absolutely noticed my VP9 was more accurate.

@freemo @gat I would be skeptical of its efficacy as a handheld self defense shotgun, which it is kind of marketed as. Those shotshells have really limited effective range. It seems fine as a 45 though.

@mandlebro Yea, the range is very short, but thats the point. It isnt a replacement for a shotgun, its intended for protection close quarters, like a bedroom and for that purpose I think its perfect. My plan is to have The Judge loaded with the first chamber having a shotgun shell then the others with bullets. First short incapacitates, second shot kills. I would not use it as an everyday simply because the shotgun shells wont help you in the open, and its just too heavy and bulky.@gat

@freemo I do not claim an expertise, but I do not see an application for which Judge works better than alternatives. The desire to shoot .410 makes it quite large. Meanwhile, shot from the rifled barrel scatters so much that it's basically useless beyond a snake. But one can achieve the same result against snakes with the snake shot. This leaves slugs, but the energy of a .410 slug about corresponds to a defensive 10mm (it exceeds a 9mm, of course). I see that I placed myself into a position where I have to pee on your parade if I am to justify my off-hand remark, which wasn't my original intention, but oh well. If you enjoy shooting that gun, it's all that matters.

@gat I do not consider my parade pee'ed on, let the golden showers continue :)For me there is a very legitimate function for a judge, which is exactly what I bought it for... close range protection at home, specifically in the bedroom. If someone breaks into your home and you are cornered in your bedroom you have no more than a few feet distance to your target, so its perfect. You load the first round with a shotgun shell, which will incapacitate, then the next round is a bullet to finish it off.Now I do agree as a daily carry or really any other scenario it isnt the best choice. But for your bedroom its perfect IMO.inb4: A shotgun itself is larger and bulkier, so should someone kicks down your door it will be a longer reaction time till its in hand and ready to go.

@freemo my Judge, similarly has a point of impact significantly different than point of aim. Taurus handguns are generally pieces of shit, especially their revolvers. That said, mine sits loaded with Winchester PDX1 shells in a small safe on my my nightstand for the reasons you articulated above. It's perfect for close-quarters low-light self-defense where overpenetration is a concern. @jlcrawf

@black6_ @jlcrawf do you know if you can adjust the sight on this? It looks like you can but im not sure... mine pulls slightly to the right and could be easily fixed if i can figure out how to adjust the irons.

@freemo You can drift the front sight for windage, but you'd need to get a different height front sight for elevation correction.

@freemo LoL mine shot high and to the left. I drifted the front sight left to bring impact to the right, and I've been looking (admittedly not very hard) for a taller sight to bring it down.Attached photo is from 7 yards. Blue highlight is the discs from the shotshell, yellow are the BBs.

@black6_ In my post the target shows a few hits off center but as i adjusted for it I was able to center it... so that tells me the judge just comes with a shitty alignment on the sight, which sucks, but it is consistent, which is more important IMO

@black6_ @freemo @jlcrawf I hope you aren't referring to the Millennium pistol they made. It just wasn't designed for 9mm +p.A 1911A1 is usually on the nightstand next to a bible and an 870.

@gat @freemo I think they take a special load of 410 in the Judge. I've always wanted one because it is mostly a snake gun. If the wadding material is used correctly it should help to prevent contact with the rifling.Assuming that this is the case, it's still firing a shotgun shell without a 22in barrel. Snake shot is really weird. I've got some 38spl and 22mag rounds of snake shot. It reminds me of Dexedrine but a projectile.Assuming that one decides to use the self defense 410 rounds made for it along with the 45 Colt rounds, that could be rather effective. The soft recoil of the 45 is rather deceptive in that it can be as effective as a 44 magnum. The revolver is rather robust so instead of reloading it can be used to bash skulls in.

@freemo @black6_ @jlcrawf The Millennium pistol couldn't fire 9mm +P when it first came out. That's rather rare for a modern pistol. It's just a tongue in cheek reference to the quality. If you want a good M9 clone, Taurus made them with Beretta machinery and they seem to be of good quality. The Judge doesn't seem to be lacking in quality but I did see them in pawnshops. Perhaps the original cost included buyers remorse. It wasn't inexpensive.Taurus isn't a bad manufacturer but they have made a few questionable designs over the years. They seem to have made a lot of good quality clones of classic Beretta pistols. The list even includes the Tomcat and Bobcat.

@AmpBenzScientist @freemo @black6_ I have had issues with the cylinder not opening on my judge. It has only happened twice. The second time I took it to a gun smith and had him look at it. He didn't find anything wrong, but it also hasn't happened since.
