@stux Trump, for all his faults, was a tv personality. I may loathe him, but his supporters love him -- he has a certain cruel charisma. DeSantis wilts in sunlight -- he's dour and alien. No way will that guy ever be president.

@stux I used to think it was just a bunch of old people holding on to âconservative valuesâ that voted Republican, but now thereâs more and more âKarensâ & âChadsâ out there every day. In some places near where I live, you really need to be careful about getting carjacked while filling up with gas. Now you also have to worry about some dumbass âprotectorâ stepping in and blowing up the gas station.

@stux DeSantis is worse than Trump but he wonât be president. The Rep party is broken â Trump/MAGA on one side, mainstream conservative on the other. Votes will get split. Republicans canât win without Independents, and Indies donât like Trump or DeSantis. Neither one are popular even in their own party. Itâll be a contentious race, but Bidenâs got this. Weâll be ok.

@stux Given his current numbers, trajectory, and style, Desantis does not have a chance of even getting the nomination. Both Biden and Trump would need to fall out of the picture for Desantis to be president. Biden could have a health problem, Trump could have a health or legal problem, so itâs not absolutely impossible.

@stux DeSantis is far more dangerous. Trumpâs a malignant narcissist with delusions of grandeur. DeSantis is a sinister, malevolent evil with obvious personal vendettas against large swaths of peoples. Itâs extremely anxiety inducing because we just did this with Trump. The one shining hopeful fact is, MAGA hate DeSantis, so a republican ticket will, hopefully, be divided. However, Biden is likely also running again, and that wonât help.

@stux I get the sentiment, but i have to ask: out of what? You live in the Netherlands. I get that this affects you (and the whole world), but in what sense are you 'in' that you will be 'out'?The USA is my home and I will stay and fight for it how I can. I'm a registered Republican, though I've voted against Trump every chance I've gotten. I'll do it again, and if either of those two performative divisive assholes win the GOP nomination, I'm re-registering as as independent.
