What books on hardware description do you two recommend? @zoerhoff @amszmidt .My opinion isn't very good, but my thought is for me to think a little about logic synthesis for digital circuits focusing on #lispm microcode, which I am imagining as basically implementing "fast" specific low level lisp functions in ada -> vhdl -> ghdl -> some relation to real hw concern.Obviously Alfred's MIT CADR FPGA port is in verilog, along with most of the non-intel world.Clearly in need of guidance

@screwtape @zoerhoff for what exactly? I’m sorta working on converting the existing CADR design to VHDL, slowly, since I suck at HDL. And doing other #LispM related stuff is slightly more fun.

@amszmidt @zoerhoff so I'm kind of looking for lit I can read that would let me start participating in grunt work, and I was grandstanding a few moments ago about possibilities to slip in lisp compilation improvements to VMs/your softcore processor and I would like to be a bit more like the famous lispm people to that avail.

@amszmidt @zoerhoff I'm kinda bookish so I like to read books and articles, then live in a fantasy world for a while. Though I appreciate that you have already brought that into reality and are suggesting I should just directly play with your work.

@amszmidt @zoerhoff I guess @hayley was linking this hw/sw numa jvm video here for me for this thread as wellhttps://social.applied-langua.ge/objects/27760298-0b28-451e-b96d-09b656aa717b

@screwtape @amszmidt @zoerhoff Azul hardware had all the processors in UMA, shockingly. They didn't have any NUMA-aware code to run, but had "a fuckton of bandwidth" (per Click, some other talk).

@screwtape @zoerhoff @amszmidt It depends on your learning style, but I've recommended this to early stage engineers who already have a background in programming : https://hdlbits.01xz.net/wiki/Main_Page
