       @RaspI think many thieves make small purchases first to see if they are getting noticed. If not they can make small purchases over a longer period. and maybe even sell the credit card info for way more.

       @Rasp That actually was probably it. They probably bought that and waited to see if you noticed. If you didn't, then they could make regular purchases with your card and keep it going for a while.

       @Rasp Someone who is checking if the card works before emptying your accountMy debit card was compromised once, first thing was a small donation to a charity, soon as it cleared they went on a spreeFortunately the bank spotted it & held off payments until they'd contacted me
