Elon Musk changed Twitter's algorithm to feature his own tweets and now he's using that power to promote his preferred presidential candidate.

@juddlegum Twitter needs to be politically neutral! No censorship! No favorites!

@adamierymenko You may have missed the fact that Twitter is privately owned by Musk. It is his personal tool. Twitter needs to be nothing but what he wants it to be.

@louis @adamierymenko Which is why he's totally at liberty to abandon free speech absolutism at the behest of authoritarians.https://slate.com/technology/2023/05/elon-musk-turkey-twitter-erdogan-india-modi-free-speech.html

@louis @adamierymenko It was also privately owned when Musk was whining about right wing voices allegedly being "censored". What goes around comes around.

@phrees @adamierymenko I don’t know how ignoring reality does any good? US Corporations „abandon free speech“ for decades when it comes to China or Saudi Arabia or Israel. Companies don't have any „free speech" obligations. „Free Speech" is a concept that is bound to the relationship between citizens and governments.I repeat: Twitter is a private company. No free speech. Just business.
