       You know that saying about getting to the “bare bones”? Well, when you are past 50, those bones are your own. The reality of your own looming mortality is inescapable, and by comparison puts everything else in it proper perspective: it all don’t mean shit. It’s terrifying and freeing. Getting old takes balls.
