Nothing frustrates me more than the "it doesn't matter" and the "it's all the same" crowd.If it didn't matter the lawmakers wouldn't be trying to stop so many demographic groups in so many states from voting!And if it's all the same to you, then you're just fortunate to exist at a level where it doesn't matter who's in power.Or just plain blind. It matters to bipoc, to the lgbtq+ community. It matters to women losing their bodily autonomy and the under 25s whose voting rights and educational breadth are being threatened. It matters to the people who want to live in order and organisation that can only be funded and managed from a governmental level, and to those who see the inherent risks of a magical, mythical wild west of "every (white cishet) man does as he sees fit".Democracy matters at every level, unless you're the despot or someone who thinks they can suck up hard enough to get a free pass from him and his lackeys...at least this time around. Voting matters. Democracy matters. And who is in power matters to anyone who understands that "freedom for all" is something that's only existed for a fraction of human history, and was fought for every step of the way.Anyone trying to tell you otherwise is an idiot or a sellout, because the opposite of despair isn't hope, it's action.

@seldear @SpiderMan Adding “the outcomes are the same” as another example of the wrongness of these statements. Just in the SCOTUS example alone, it’s saying Ketanji Brown Jackson and Amy Coney Barrett are the same. As if I need to say it, they’re not.

@TonyStark @CherylBlueWave The people who say voting doesn't matter are either 1) discouraged voters or, are 2) actively working on voter suppression efforts.Most discouraged voters don't complain voting is useless because they are caught up in day to day living and don't think about it.

Reason 1 is why I try to post about real things that happen as a result of electing good people- Jay Inslee in WA, Vermont passing real childcare legislation with e Dem supermajority. I get the discouragement, but there are lots of things that can and do happen and I try and counteract that. Thanks for the comment.

@TonyStark let’s not do the same thing we did in 2016 and pretend that voting for anyone other than the Democrat is edgy or voicing your opinion. It’s not. It’s democracy vs. fascism. #VoteBlue down ballot in every election.
