       This forest was logged in the 1920s. I once talked, briefly, with an elderly man who'd been a teenage "whistle punk" when the original 400-600 year old Douglas Fir forest was yarded and loaded onto rail cars. 100 years later, it's still only a shadow of what it was. But my oh my, what a beautiful shadow. I'm grateful that someone had the foresight to protect this area, that it will always be here to remind us of what a forest might be on Vancouver Island. #vancouverisland  #douglasfir
