@ned you phrased your question incorrectly.the head of state historically worked as a pair: king and queen.sounds like you were asking this instead:::how many black queens acted as a king and sole ruler over an area of land at any point in history ?then i'd have told you zero to my knowledge.

@ringo Every king has a queen. That's no surprise. But for a queen the be the ruler and the king to be the husband. Well, that's a little more rare. But it does happen. Queen of Sheba is the best example from that region.
