       #Defederation is when some of the folks you are following suddenly disappear in the nowhere. And you won’t even know why, because there usually is no transparency over which instances are being blocked by other instances.        @dans_root I agree. Kinda catty (pun not intended) if you ask me. But that's also the prerogative of the instance admins/owners. But transparency would be nice.

       @dans_root This is really why I run my own. I right now don't block any instance just certain bad acting accounts.

       @seth I'm with you on this. I also run my own instance because it's completely owned by me, and just like my own website, could be left as an island to itself but it's sill in my control. I know that I potentially run the risk that if I say something that pisses of a significant portion of folks I could be completely taken off the Fediverse with probably no recourse. I'm OK with that risk. I had pretty much left Twitter and Facebook already. 🤷‍♂️@dans_root
