Lem 2.0.0 features GUI based on SDL2!(Check out the release notes!.) What this means is you do NOT have to use the Electron front-end to view graphics in the Lem editor now. That for me was the biggest thing preventing me from using it. I avoid Electron and Node.js like the plague that it is.This might actually be the first text editor that I have ever seen that could actually become better than #Emacs. It is a little disappointing that it is MIT-licensed, I prefer free software over open source software. But I'll definitely be giving this a try.#Programming #CodeEditor #TextEditor #EditorWars #Lem #CommonLisp #Lisp

@ramin_hal9001 This is great news, the whole Electron/Node.js thing was a deal breaker. The Docker image works as expected and the interface is really snappy. You indeed get a Common Lisp mode with SWANK support out-of-the-box. Not having something similar to Paredit by default is disappointing though. Everything seems much faster than Emacs which was expected. If only Emacs was built on Common Lisp…I don't see it replacing Emacs, but it is always nice to see people build interesting projects. It is a little disappointing that it is MIT-licensed, I prefer free software over open source softwareTrolling aside, MIT-licensed software is absolutely Free Software as defined by the FSF [1], the four essential freedoms are guaranteed.[1] https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html#fs-definition

@galdor @ramin_hal9001 https://github.com/40ants/lem-paretoThis looks really interesting. Particularly as I mostly use Emacs these days for LISP.
