       Coming back to a previous home is weird.Me, to my husband: Australia feels like home. I understand everything without trying, everyone understands me, everything sounds and smells familiar... Maybe we should come back.Lady at the cashier: I couldn't help but hear your accent. Where are you from?

       @nicole If it makes you feel any better, I’ve had people in Canada ask me that… at a time where I had never lived outside of Canada.(And then when I lived outside of Canada, people had no problem placing my accent, and called it “exotic” which still cracks me up to this day. Once even had a client interrupt a presentation to ask if I was Canadian…)

       @nicole That's a very Australian question.

       @kmaustral Yeah, I'm not offended by it, just a little amused that I get that question everywhere (because every country clocks me as not being "from" there).

       @nicole I struggle with the exact same thing here in the Netherlands. “You speak Dutch very well! Impressive! You’re not from around here, right?”I did experience the same familiarity coming back to The Netherlands.(Lived 8 years in Germany. Do most of my job in English)
