#introduction Hi, I’m a newcomer to Mastodon after abandoning the bad bird place, like many others in recent days. I’m a software engineer on the #Orion / #Artemis program so I follow #space & #science topics. Also of interest #photography / #travel / #nature / #environment / #art / #geology / #gardening / #politics. @hikingdude @Trilobyter yes welcome indeed! I've been on mastodon for just about a month... Never was really on Twitter even though I did have an account from when it first launched. Was mostly on FB, but that's a pretty terrible platform for so many reasons. Have been wanting something else for a long time... Hopefully the future is here now that the fediverse is unfurling! 😎

@Jaycee @Trilobyter oh wow. I kind of skipped Facebook and am still on insta and Twitter. Mastodon is quite new for me as well..Unfortunately I have friends on the other platforms as well - so I'm spinning up another channel.. Probably not the very best thing I'm doing 😉

@Jaycee @hikingdude I posted very little on Twitter, mostly was using it to get alternative sources of info and humor & political commentary but what engagement there was seemed to be met with mostly indifference (which is ok) to hostility (which gets tiresome). Don’t miss it at all. FB I’ve got restricted to a tight group of family & friends so as long as I keep my feed well curated it’s ok but I do get sick of all the ads. But so far Mastodon has been a much better experience for me.

@RhiMG I’ve traveled around England proper but sadly not yet to Wales or Scotland, but from what I’ve seen in photos & videos I think the scenery there holds its own against any other beautiful part of the world. And you have castles. But more than that, while you may hear some colorful expressions uttered by locals in the vast spaces of far west Texas, you will probably not hear any of them say “oh my giddy aunt”, so you’ve got that going for you😁.
