Do colors of dishes matter in a microwave? Not seeing anything about this in search engine. We have 3 large ceramic mugs, apparently identical structurally (not an actual set, so can't be sure) ... just different colors. The dark blue mug is fine in the microwave. The red mug is not ... the mug gets hotter than the liquid inside it. The pale green mug is halfway between the two.Thoughts?

Microwaves affect water molecules. You can test this by heating the mugs with nothing inside, and filled with water.I assume unless there is a significant difference in the glossing that covers the ceramic or clay the result will the the same.

@nattiegoogie If you break the red mug into pieces smaller than ~1 cm, it will not heat up nearly as much.
