       @Metamedia @goncalor There's really no incentive to even have adverts TBH. Adverts appear everywhere else because it's the devil's bargain. It's the price for "free". But if I'm running a two-person instance on a 2012 Mac Mini plugged into the back of my shed, how do I benefit from running adverts on my network? And when you consider instances like ours or even mastosocial, they're labours of love and are supported by their users. So really, nobody benefits from adverts. Users don't get a "free" service. Admins don't benefit because they would do this with, or without the support. And the Fediverse definitely does not benefit.
