i'm anti prime directive. They don't honor it in the show in most cases anyway and there seems to be no real reason for its supposed goal, to not disturb developing cultures. I'd rather give penicillin to those cavemen than fly away.

@lain It is probably 80% fantasy and 20% science fiction, but that describes Star Trek as well.I think the ideas about the "minds", the self aware computers are quite interesting.

Tbh though I love TNG as it is.Because despite all the pretense, at the end of the day, different races strive against and commit intigues against one another, that all the fluffy shit gets tossed in the garbage when shit gets real (Borg), and the "guardian elites of freedom" are usually corrupt to the core.

@joey @echo @lain there's a funny story here. Jeri Ryan told in an interview how Kate Mulgrew hated her for stealing everyone's attention with her boobs and tried to ruin her every performance, borderline bullying her.Also, Voyager is shit. Until Picard, Voyager was probably the worst ST series.

@newt @echo @joey i think voyager was probably to blame for the failure of enterprise, i was a big star trek fan but i tuned out during voyager and didn't even take a look at enterprise, when i finally did i really liked it.

@newt @lain @echo @joey Voyager wasn’t very good, of course, but I watched it anyhow because it was easier to watch because of how TV worked where I lived back then. It was UPN’s flagship (no pun intended) show, and they also showed TNG re-runs five or six days a week, which was my favorite. DS9, on the other hand, was relagated to a different channel, on Saturday evenings, where it always got delayed or not shown at all due to sportsball games.I wanted to like Enterprise more than I actually did. Everyone says it got better with the Xindi arc, but I just saw that as pandering “We 9/11 now, but IN SPACE!” garbage.
