@anomielia No. Some states are banning “gender affirming” surgery and drugs for minors, and people are looking a little harder at what “gender affirming” means.The whole “approve this by stealth because it’s a ‘good cause’ “ is taking a hit. But Europe is foreign and exotic, so they can pretend there’s a “better world” “over there”.

@LostInCalifornia Yes, that's my impression. But still, everywhere, I'm hearing about "trans genocide". Where is this happening? I am aware of violence against women, homophobic violence, and violence against sex workers, but from everything I can see trans people aren't disproportionately targeted for attack. Instead, it appears to me that it is these very claims of "genocide" are creating a climate of fear that doesn't square with reality.

@anomielia Because every time a trans person dies, they claim it’s due to “transphobia”, no matter if it was another trans person who killed them.The numbers are low. They are in a safe demographic, but they’re counting on people not to understand the math.

@anomielia @LostInCalifornia It’s not remotely happening, anywhere. Maybe tens of Brazilian TIM prostitutes have been killed by customers/pimps/other TIM prostitutes. In the US, there’s a list that they trot out every so often of about thirty dead TIMs, almost all of whom either were very obviously killed for reasons unrelated to their being trans (eg, drug deals or killed by another TIM) or who killed themselves but magically somehow count. IMO, it’s Chinese whispers for the most part, but presumably with originating sources who know exactly what they are doing.

@Flick @LostInCalifornia " ... or who killed themselves but magically somehow count." - Isn't that one of the main arguments, that anything other than blanket affirmation is life threatening because it will cause suicide?Every day I watch and listen to mainstream leftist media and commentators that seem generally logical and level headed, and then they casually drop in some reference to this "genocide" and I feel like I'm going crazy or being gaslit. It seems improbable than almost every media source that takes this position has accepted bad science and swallowed propaganda whole, which makes me think that I must be the one in the wrong. If these people are critical thinkers on nearly every other topic, why have they come to a conclusion about "gender" issues that to me seems totally insane? I worry that because I haven't personally undertaken a comprehensive scientific literature review of all the evidence on gender dysphoria, I am not taking an informed position on the issue. However, in the research I have done, it is only those on the skeptical/critical side of the arguments that appear to be persuasive. I can't get around the basic philosophical and biological contradictions of gender ideology.

@anomielia @LostInCalifornia Unfortunately, the media has been captured on this subject. Again, I don’t think it’s deliberate from most of them. They accepted that gay marriage was a human right, and once that that been achieved and become normalised they assumed that the next big thing from the orgs pushing it was also obviously good and right. It’s not so much that they have accepted bad science as that they have not looked into the science. If they did, they would know that there is no science.
