@lowqualityfacts Uhhhh....it's because they eat shrimp....flamingos appear pink becaue they eat pink shrimpReal Fact:Flamingos get their pink color from their food.Carotenoids give carrots their orange color or turn ripe tomatoes red. They are also found in the microscopic algae that brine shrimp eat. As a flamingo dines on algae and brine shrimp, its body metabolizes the pigments — turning its feathers pink.

@lowqualityfacts I really thought this was true, sort of, so had to fact check it. Sadly it's not. They get the pink colouring from what they eat, but I did find out this interesting titbit from BBC science Focus Magazine. “Flamingos tend to live in inhospitable, relatively remote wetlands – lakes so alkaline in pH it could burn human flesh off the bones. https://www.sciencefocus.com/nature/why-are-flamingos-pink/
