Here's some of the more interesting titles in my collection:1. Manos: the Hands of Fate2. Macbat 643. Duke Nukem Forever (this one has a personal story)4. Final Fantasy VII (the PC port)5. Slipstream 50006. Super Mario Bros (C64 port)7. MegaRace 18. Goat Simulator9. Hotline Miami10. Always Sometimes MonstersOf all the games I own, these are the most memorable. Not saying all of them are good, but I'll never forget them.

Some of the games I own, though, are incredibly bad. For example, this one.I bought it because I wanted a cheap VR game... and it was called BUTTS. Regretfully, I bought it with real money.

The thing about me is that I don't have a whole lot of AAA type titles in my collection. I prefer stuff way off the beaten path. Which was why I was no good for Twitch streaming. That, and I'm 41-year-olds.

I guess if there was one game in my collection that I wished everyone played, it would be Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe.It's so good, I actually bought friends a copy just so they would play it. No one has ever said anything negative about this game.

Okay, so how did I come to own so many games? I’ve been collecting since the 1980s. It started with the Atari 2600—which I still own. At some point in the 90s and 00s, buying old video games was cheap. I just went to yard sales and there they were. And then in the 10s, there were lots and lots of PC bundle deals. At one time, I was able to buy games for pennies. Stuff that at one time would have cost me $80, was $0.10 if I bought it with other games. So I was like, “Why not?”

And believe it or not, there’s stuff I used to own, gave away, and now I miss them.I used to own a SEGA Master System, Dreamcast, and Ouya. The game I genuinely miss having is Killer 7 for GameCube. I wish I still had Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii.

@atomicpoet Chris. This thread is a great example of the need to have real working "Special interest Groups" in the Fediverse. As I have no interest in games, I am now being spammed by a special interest topic, where you should be free to go into tiny details and totally nerd out, without spamming followers not interested in that topic. See Telegram Groups or Matrix Rooms.

@selea @atomicpoetI understand spam means a lot of unwanted posts. Which is what I and others, according to the vote, got.Now I'm happy that the others were keen on games. And for me it was just a bit of scrolling. But it was a opportunity to see first hand, an example of the problem of missing Group functionality.

@paulSure. And, as can be seen from the poll, people are interested in different things. But if you "follow" someone, you get everything, regardless of topic. It's a weakness in the "follow" concept.But this can be solved with the groups function.

@ianp5a OK, I must admit my knowledge of Mastodon features is limited as I don't use Mastodon, but I guess the groups feature would do what you need.Doesn't Mastodon have "Lists" though? Where you can group people into certain "lists" which move their posts into that "list" so you can view it when you want to? Not sure how groups would be different as how could you tell context from a post to put it into the desired group? Regardless, this is probably a personal preference thing. I, for one, like to see posts that I may not necessarily be interested in in my timeline. Either way... it's unfair to call it "spam" as other people are happy to see it.@selea @atomicpoet

@paulYou would Join a group of the topic of interest. There you will see all posts of all others who Joined that group. Those posts are only available inside the group. People get deep into discussions on some dog breed or microprocessor. They feel free to do so without boring friends not into that topic. And they get to know the others in the group really well.

@paul Spam is merely what lots of unwanted posts are called. Sure Chris meant well with it. I neither moaned or asked him to stop. I pointed out a classic example of the problem and explained the reason. The flaw lies with the system, which is already being worked on.Chris should feel free to post any topic, yet he felt he needed to do a poll. Another symptom of the problem.The aim is to have a lot of happy people and communities here.

It implies Chris had the intention of annoying people with his posts, when he did not.We have bigger, actual, spam problems on the fediverse, on the internet in general. Sorry to say it, but you'll still get spam in groups too.
