The consequences are death to a lot of animals like fish and other animals who live in water. Nitrate is another problem, which pollutes the groundwater. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of humans not being in the latter category.“Thrive” is not a requirement, and even then not a whole lot of meat is required for humans to thrive as long as they get enough fats. Which of course normally come along with eating meat.

@utopify_org @book pigs can eat a lot of different food. Their dietary needs aren't much different from ours. They are omnivores. If you plan on using them on a farm you can grow things they eat and move them around so they don't end up completely wrecking a spot. They don't have to be fed on concrete in miserable conditions that's just how industry does it.

@utopify_org all I do is organic farming. I tilled a long time ago and realized very quickly that all it did was wake up latent weed seeds in the soil. Later I learned about how much is lost when you till.It isn't a "conservative" vs "liberal" farmer problem. Nearly all large farms are doing the same things and it doesn't matter what their politics are. Making it about politics shows you don't understand the actual issues.Also I don't use pesticides or herbicides. I would say that the damage done by pesticides is likely worse when on tilled soil because that soil doesn't hold moisture and erodes much easier than healthy soil.

Their inputs are also local. They don't eat grains because grass is free, and grass fed beef is healthier to eat anyway. I eat the seeds from some of the grasses they eat but no I'm not interested in eating grass. Yes they take up space, but so do you and your value to the planet isn't obvious.

@utopify_org maybe just read what I write instead of assuming I'm like someone else you met on the internet :shrug: There is a difference between organic farming and being vegan understand. Plenty of meat is grown organically. All the birds in my yard are cage free (one is in jail for eating eggs but I'll be letting her out in a week) and eat a fully organic diet. I don't have enough space to grow all of their food so I do buy feed, but it's organic and sourced regionally (the company works with farms across 5 states). I also make my own compost and plant primarily heirloom varieties of seed.

I think factory farming is horrible, but a ton of plant and animal diversity exists solely because of animal husbandry and land management practices. We are by nature omnivores, and we don't have the digestive tract to be herbivores. We can't process cellulose-b like an herbivore. We can't produce herbivore specific amino acids. The lies some of these people tell in their crusade are very foolish.

Baby turtles are super cute, but I'd still eat turtle stew if I lived in a place where turtles were a natural source of food. Chickens exist all over the world, therefore I eat their eggs cooked in ample amounts of butter (you can get almost complete daily nutrition from a handful of chicken eggs). Some chickens are very cool, and most are cute. I eat them sometimes because cooked the right way, they taste good. I don't think cows are cute, but they are docile, so that's a bonus while raising them. Their meat and fat has the best nutritional composition of all the animals, so it's a good thing it tastes so good. Pigs can be pretty cute. I eat them too. Their lard is useful in so many ways. I also eat real vegetables, such as cabbages, alliums, curcubits, capsicum, roots, and tubers. Unfortunately, no amount of vegetables will provide a human body with total nutrition, and therefore a human will die on such a diet. There are nutrients that humans require that can only be acquired by eating other animals. It is a biological fact. Easily proven by the dead vegan children (I'm sure you've seen the news reports) whose parents are sent to jail soon after. Just like a vegan cat, you know it wasn't the child who chose that diet.You live your life in the most toxic way possible. You do it daily. You are the number one unsustainable polluter. You are, essentially, evil. Your "meat free" diet is not only toxic, but you don't even eat real vegetables. You consume a diet where your calories come from seed/soybean oil and sugar, and then you bulk it out with more soybeans and grains (aka sugar) and toxic waste chemicals to make it all palatable to your destroyed taste buds. Though, at this point, your brain function is so limited that you probably find the natural flavors of real food to be disgusting compared to the slop chemical concoctions with which you sustain your damaged body. The food you demand is at least one hundred times more damaging to the environment than any natural farming of animals and real vegetables. You actively dump toxins into the water system and outgas it constantly into the air, and you demand the same of the manufacturers of what you consume. Your "fabrics" are all plastic. Everything else you own is also plastic. You "recycle" all your plastic right back into the water and food systems (because there's no such thing as recycling plastic). You inform every industry to continue to mass produce the most environmentally damaging products that exist because you continue to purchase their disposable garbage that you consume daily.I guarantee you regularly buy "dish soap" (detergent), "laundry soap" (detergent), "antiperspirant" or "deoderant", "toothpaste" (detergent), "shampoo" (detergent), "cleaner" (detergent), and many more toxic, disposable consumer products. None of them necessary for human function or health. All of them toxic waste diverted into little bottles that good goys purchase because they've been told that they're necessary to live. All of them toxic to the human body and the environment.
