Holy shit.. it's so sad to see how super mis informed the older generations Russians are.. :amaze: Most of them are so stuck in the previous century :facepalm: Not sure they want to know any different though.. @stux We all are but yes, Russians have it though. Truth is a relative thing same as freedom. I am a bit worried how we use a kind of 'cancel culture' against Russians. The world is getting more and more polarized... not just externally but also internally.. a very dangerous state to be in.

@stux Yes, they are. I see the same thing in my country. Their world works in certain ways. If the leaders of the society keep it working that way, and they do it for personal gain, then people won't *get* to know a different world. Also, people resist change because they don't know how to handle it. Nobody will help them adjust to any new setting because most of the new leaders also in the leading structures for personal gain. Our species is far from being truly rational.

@calculsoberic @stux Yeah there are many similarities, but the propaganda and memory laws in the Soviet Union and now Russia should give us more empathy towards the deluded Russians than to us deluded Americans, Europeans, Australians, Asians, etc. imo.

@stux It's interesting that you mention World War 1 - I think there's a lot of similarities to Austria-Hungary's attack on Serbia in 1914. There were definitely two guilty parts then, but Serbia wasn't one of them, if that makes sense. Great power political maneuvers from multiple parts set the powder keg up, but doesn't mean A-H empire wasn't to blame. And even though A-H were clear aggressors, there was definitely bad-faith anti-German and anti-A-H propaganda in the Allied/Entente countries.
