@stux Toen ik solliciteerde om bij Philips Brugge (waar destijds TV's geproduceerd werden), vroeg men mij in welke richting ik wilde doorgroeien (beeld je in, als 21-jarige)... en toen antwoorde ik heel overtuigd dat ik op de dienst Teletekst-ontwikkeling wilde geraken. De technologie er achter vond ik toen zo boeiend!

@stux Naar hedendaagse normen is het inderdaad heel traag (alhoewel er toen al met 1000 pagina's buffergeheugen gewerkt werd), maar de technologie blijft waanzinnig: hoe je in een stokoud protocol van zwart-wit-tv er in slaagt om eerst kleuren toe te voegen, dan stereo-geluid, vervolgens 1000 pagina's tekst en ASCII-art en zelfs live ondertiteling en zo! Zalig! Idem voor RDS op FM trouwens!

@stux En dan nog eens gewoon backwards-compabible hé! Die oude buizenradio luistert gewoon FM in mono zonder gestoord te worden door RDS en die oude zwart-wit-TV merkt niet eens dat er teletekst uitgezonden wordt of dat er kleuren in zijn signaal zitten!

@stux yup, I remember implementing updates to the teletekst, that the company I was working for wanted, to display the name of the program that's on when you switch channels, that had been recently introduced as a feature on newer TVs in 2006. Besides from needing to learn how Teletext worked, I needed to understand how the PCI card, which didn't exactly support the feature, converted it into a format that could be added to the carousel
