I had previously wondered if Teixeira (the alleged discord secrets leaker) was sharing stuff he legitimately handled in his normal duties or if he went digging on his own. If the former, that would explain how he avoided raising red flags. But it looks like he *did* raise red flags, and was warned several times to stop digging for information unrelated to his job. But no further action appears to have been takenhttps://apnews.com/article/jack-teixeira-national-guard-massachusetts-leaked-documents-788b28daf6504eaac02df5844d7a2c01

Anyway, if this is true, this is a pretty spectacular failure. It sounds as if most of the people around him were reasonably attentive and conscientious in raising issues, but the command level above them was just plain negligent (or worse).

@mattblaze That should really be a one-strike offense for anything other than trivial cases.

@lauren @mattblaze ... I wonder how bad the staffing crisis would be if that were implemented.

@gpshead @mattblaze Perhaps the staffing crisis would be less acute if less material was unnecessarily classified.
