@niconiconi It's an ugly hack because car companies were too cheap to pay for four twisted pairs when one would do the job.So instead of using a perfectly good existing standard they made a new custom one.

@azonenberg@ioc.exchange I once looked into replacing standard GbE PHY with a GbE Base-T1 PHY as a possible way to simplify a board-to-board galvanic isolated connection.
