       The idea of replacing every single petrol-based car with an electric car is ridiculous. We need fewer vehicles in total, not different ones. It's still unsustainable to have such a ridiculous number of cars instead of more/better public transport.

       @Savera @whynothugo I bet that folks who have basically no (or poor) public transit will double down on cars, and their governments will be pressured to subsidize them if they became "too expensive". It's easier to pass something like that than to pay for creation/expansion of public transit. It's the same reason governments are willing to spend money to widen roads instead of paying more for public transit even though it's clearly better long term.
