       I got around to watching the first season of Star Trek Discovery.The interpersonal conflicts and lack of discipline that threw me off initially does at least have an explanation within the season.I'll keep watching but it feels more like a take on Orville than Star Trek.Or maybe a continuation of the recent feature films.Strange New Worlds sets the standard.

       @Polychrome @c0debabe @me The thing that bothers me the most about Discovery (having not finished it) is that it's supposed to be 10 years (EDIT: prior to)f TOS and falls into the trap of having tech that is vastly superior to TOS.I really wish Hollywood would lose the fascination with the holographic stuff that would literally need a complete sea-change in user interfaces. Like, physics-breaking sea change.But I've also come to realize that the Kelvin Trek is what passes for TOS tech so I try to swallow my side-eye.
