@stux I remember some time ago reporting SEO spammers for windows/doors on one instance, what annoyed me was that the business was about 1 hours drive down the road from me in mid Essex - so the SEO spammers are preying on local businesses where staff have less tech knowledge and don't know (or care) exactly how their business is being marketed..

@stux let me guess a lot of the spam is from mastodon.social. (I on my single user instance have been having issues with spam coming from that instance)

@stux i typically message them and see if they bother to respond and if not, off to bit bucket. BUT, if they respond and actually participate then i put them on a list to see how they do.

@stux It's pretty easy to tell when the timing of the ads aren't congruent with the business location. Yesterday, all the carpentry ads were for places in Iowa, but the ads were placed at 1 AM their time
