Right now I'm standing guard for any life-threatening symptoms of this stuff *I injected right into me*. So far it's just hives, itchiness, a lump deep under the skin at the last injection site, and a very unnerving tightness in my throat. Tho that could be me freaking the fuck out

@wren If it makes you feel any better, I had a similar experience when I started. I didn't get a tightness in my throat, but the injection site got pretty itchy for a few days after, and it was kind of lumpy too. That went away for me after a while.I think part of the reason was the first few times I used the vial longer than maybe I should have. Seemed like when I switched to a new vial it didn't happen. YMMV :QueerCatHeart_Trans:

@malcircuit ohhh, yeah. my vial is getting very low. So this could be a reaction to whatever is settling in the vial? My first few shots I had zero reaction, so I thought this was weird.Dang, I don't know if I want to gamble with this, but I already have an estradiol refill on order. And what you're saying makes a lot of sense to me. Hmm!

@wren It could be that your vial has been contaminated with something and that's actually what's causing the reaction. I think that's what was happening for me, but like I say, YMMV. It's an idea anyway :blobcatgooglyshrug:

@malcircuit I think it's a great idea! And it matches up with what's happening here. I wipe down the bottle top with alcohol before drawing, but that little stopper is visibly beat up now. Contamination seems really likely to me. I've mentioned it to my doctor, I'll see what he says. Either way, I need a new vial of *something*

@wren @malcircuit how do you draw from the vial? Do you use the same hole or try to draw from different areas? Also a friend recommended wiping the top of the vial off with an alcohol pad if you don't already do that; i tended to use one side for my thigh, one for the bottle

My doctor has already suggested estradiol cypionate, which I will definitely try. But it's apparently "much harder to find." So it's back on the pills for now.

@muse @malcircuit I try to vary it up, I don't want to make a permanent hole. Those dents are from single draws, I don't know what happened there. But it is hard for me to aim with that huge needle

@wren @muse @malcircuit A couple of things to consider trying:First, don't come straight down with the needle, a slight angle is better as it reduces the risk of removing a section or leaving holes like that. Second, the other thing that might help is switching to a smaller draw needle. I draw with a 20ga instead of an 18 to help with this (a tip given to me by a friend who had horrible problems coring vials with 18s). This was helpful for me in talking about how to draw meds better, it may be useful for you:https://innovationcompounding.com/tutorial-coring/
