       @riley It's not that they aren't receptive. It's that they don't care because <insert here a service provider> is free and people believe that giving up a bit compensates the freeness of the service.They don't care. We do, that's why we tell them over and over "hey, maybe you should not use that service".

       It's just so strange to me how many people are not receptive to being told "Hey maybe we shouldn't have all of our computers based on proprietary operating systems and APIs controlled by a single corporation""Hey maybe we shouldn't have web traffic directed and organized through search by a single corporation""Hey maybe the way that we talk to each other online shouldn't be owned and controlled through algorithms and advertising managed by a single corporation"

       @aral @riley I got a reality check today, when a european politician thought of regulating face recognition AI for companies....Yeah.... 1) That is a bandait on a fucking broken dam of machine learning.2) These algorythms have been in use for 10 years already3) This dumb regulation is at this point nothing but a joke. Big tech got all the data and money from it already, but the regulation came in just in time to limit small companies/individuals from using it.
