@boilingsteam I'm still with Steam Deck, with Asus fudging performance numbers and embracing Microsoft so heavily in its marketing putting into doubt future Linux support. That is also bringing into question long term support of the hardware by Asus as illustrated by Gamers Nexus:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbGfc-JBxlY

@boilingsteam its a hard comparison to make. Ally clearly has better internals. Better screen. Deck has the touchpads, and I'd always take SteamOS over Windows. HoloOS on the Ally might be very interesting.

@boilingsteam It seems to me you are getting a bit worked up about this piece of hardware. Smells a bit like Apple fandom vibes here with the Steam Deck.Valve doesn’t really need to make a margin with the Deck.The Ally has a better display and newer SoC.Of course Windows makes it worse.The buttons might be worse too.This is no 'Steam Deck killer', just a horizontal competitor.

@boilingsteamOther. I welcome the idea of more handheld x64 PCs, especially tuned for gaming. I just hope that ASUS doesn't dig themselves into a hole, PR-wise

@boilingsteam VRR is Asus's killer feature, and they don't even have the sense to lead with that. They put bad controller buttons in previewers hands, but that's going to be replaced with a redesigned plastic part when they launch in a few weeks? I doubt that.

@frumble @boilingsteam I disagree. I wanted this to be great. I even placed a preorder in the morning. After learning more thru the day I cancelled. It just isn’t a worthy replacement.

@boilingsteam It doesn't have gyro aim and it doesn't have touch pads. That alone reduces the number of games I would want to play on it. It also comes with Windows on it and when Linux has issues running I can't talk to support.So at least for me it's not an alternative.

@boilingsteam The Ally looks like a great product. But even though the price is excellent it is still kinda too much for a handheld. Also Valve sells the deck at a cost and get profit from selling games. If ASUS are selling the Ally at cost then where will the profit cone from?

@boilingsteam @frumble you also can’t play a game on both systems. Regardless of title. I can play all my purchases on both devices. Which makes it a replacement.
