@lowqualityfacts Funnily enough, the Old English word for 'mouse' was pronounced /muːs/.'moose' was borrowed into Modern English, so obviously it was never assigned many properties that affected Old English verb inflection. The plural form of the aforementioned Old English word was pronounced /myːs/, which has since become the familiar /maɪs/, but that declension was affected by i-mutation. If meese were native to Britian, I guess we'd probably call them something else in English.
