For all the fear and hatred supporters of the U.S. Dems have for the G.O.P., they don't seem too fussed that BOTH the Dems and the Republicans are happily lying that the pandemic is over. #CovidIsNotOver #covid #COVIDisAirborne #uspolitics

@Geoffberner ITs not over, it will never be over, just as H1N1 isnt over and never will be.. At this point its just a disease that is part of life, it is what it is. Lets hope one day we have better treatments and diseases, but it doesnt really need to be the focus or the spotlight anymore. The way I see it COVID is the third leading causeof death, meaning other more common causes of death, like heart disease is a good indication.. In a balanced world we would hear about COVID less often, than people wanr us about heart disease.. meaning yea, we should talk about it, but it really is time to take it out of the spotlight to the extent that it was,.

@Geoffberner @freemo The problem with this line of thinking is that heart disease isn’t contagious. I can go to public places like my doctor’s office and sit in the waiting room next to someone who has heart disease with no worries. I can no longer go anywhere, including necessary medical appointments, without worrying about catching something that is the third leading cause of death. And #covid continues to mutate. Not to mention no cure for #LongCovid which now affects millions.

@freemo @Geoffberner From a political point of view, there is a lot that could be done. They could be regulating cleaner air in public buildings, continuing to mandate masks in medical and pharmacy settings, making sure money goes to accelerated research on vaccines and treatments for long covid, making sure tracking data stays online and is reported. They’re not doing this, instead even the Dems in power do nothing and say it’s over.

@VeeRat @Geoffberner @freemo covid (flu) is also not contagious, there is zero scientific evidence of it being contagious, you have been duped by propaganda and fraudulent testing

@freemo @VeeRat @Geoffberner Great. Go on living our lives, huh??? Got COVID after 3.5 years of avoiding it because apparently others were just living their lives and not masking (I was). Came east to see my elderly folks and immunocompromised sister, and fell ill within 2 days so couldn't see them, couldn't go home, and spent $3k isolating in a hotel. I guess I could just go on living my life, get on a plane tomorrow maskless???

@freemo @VeeRat @Geoffberner even if you just have a regular common cold or flu, it's pretty indecent to not take a basic measure to prevent passing on the annoyance. And the person can influence the chance of passing it on, is responsible for it, it's not a law of nature.

@Geoffberner @VeeRat Disagree, most of yhe work ahead is in the scie tists hands at this point to develop a more effective vaccine and treatments. Sure if you have covid or any disease quari tine yourself and the usual good practices. But it isnt something thst needs to be the focus of our lives anymore... there comes a point where jts just an overreaction and mentally unhealthy to obsess over it.

Consider also that lockdowns and restrictions have secondary effects that are equally unethical. Recall that people couldn't access their oncologist because of the restrictions in place.https://archive.is/2020.04.20-202103/https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/20/health/treatment-delays-coronavirus.html

@feld @Geoffberner @VeeRat More imoortantly lockdowns simply arent a tool effective for eliminating viruses all together. They were the rigbt choice when hospitals didnt bave the capacity to handle the sick, but thry arent a tool that is helpful beyobd that.

And to that point, I don't have the tools to measure or enough data to make a decision about which choice would do the least harm. The fact that there are people who have to make this choice is disturbing.

@freemo @feld@bikeshed.party @VeeRat everything you've written here was workshopped by right wing think tanks for you to think. Then a huge amount of money was spent on internet ads etc. to get you to think it. None of it is true, or supported by any evidence. I'm going to block you now. You're like an anti-vaxxer.

@freemo @Geoffberner I believe that covid-19 is still a rational fear, I also believe that societies around the world should rethink how to manage the future inevitable future pandemics. We need to focus upon changing the way we conduct and perform disease monitoring surveillance activities. Also change how hospitals are built, we need greater areas specifically built to control the spread of contagious diseases. All of the improvements that I have mentioned will be extremely financially cost prohibitive. I believe that we must totally change hospital architectural designs in order to safeguard the future health, safety, and welfare of future generations to come. Our hospital infrastructures are at best antiquated and at worst designed for traditional health care needs of the 1980s which now are totally useless in responding to epidemics and pandemics. We had observed during the height of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic people waiting for treatments in hospital hallways. We need to totally modify our health care systems around the world to deal with future pandemics. Sincerely, Monica Andrews

@freemo @Geoffberner ranking cause of death like that is fuzzy, of course, but I think even so it is hard to do it in a way where covid is 3rd. It's probably at the rate of like 100k/year right now in the US? So not just behind the big 2 (cancer, CVD) but also behind accidents, alzheimers, stroke, etc.
