       For @grammargirl and friends - One of my all-time favorite typos occurred in an SF Bay Area newspaper back in the 70s. I memorized it then -“For Sale - 1 1/2 ton wench. Lifts anything.”My reaction was, “I’ll be she can.”#typos #proofreading

       @BPDuggan That's hilarious!One of the very first tip videos I did was "wench" versus "winch," and I still remember the look on the face of the woman in the stock art "wench" photo.

       @grammargirl What was even funnier at the time was that I was heavily involved in the Northern California Renaissance Faire and you couldn’t walk ten paces there without hearing someone say or shout “wench.”(no equivalent moniker for dudes though )

       @BPDuggan @grammargirl My favorite was an announcement for a shopping mall event (North County Mall in Escondido, California). The recent winner of a beauty pageant would be making her first appearance and the headline read, “Meet Miss California in her first pubic appearance!”

       @calsnoboarder @BPDuggan Haha! Copy editors sometimes add a "pubic-to-public" autocorrect entry to their custom dictionaries.

       @BPDuggan @grammargirl A headline someone else wrote for a #newspaper article I wrote years ago, proves the importance of hyphenating compound modifiers:"Students Get First Hand Job Experience"#Typo #Proofreading #Editing #Editor #Headlines #Humor #Humour
